Finding the perfect bassinet may seem simple. After all, finding a safe, comfortable place for your baby to sleep shouldn’t be that hard. Yet we live in a world with almost too many options. While the SnuzPod 5 Bedside Bassinet certainly isn’t the most affordable baby bassinet on the market, it’s undeniably one of the sleekest and sturdiest. The SnuzPod 5, which recently launched in the U.S., offers a more “furniture-like” bassinet feel than cheaper plastic options. Using a wooden frame, this reliable bassinet delivers comfort and functionality for your home and for your baby. In this SnuzPod 5 Bedside bassinet review, I’ll break down what you need to know to help you decide if it’s worth the splurge.

Assembling the SnuzPod 5 Bedside Bassinet

Assembling the SnuzPod 5 took a bit longer than other bassinets I’ve assembled, but it wasn’t difficult. Unlike many other popular bassinets that use a “click-in” system because of plastic parts, this bassinet requires bolts because it’s made of wood. This creates a much sturdier, more furniture-like feel than cheap plastic.
The assembly of this baby bassinet was easy enough to follow for one person, taking about 45 minutes to an hour to complete. I do wish the company had labeled the parts and included written instructions. Currently, the manual shows only photos, and the parts aren’t labeled, so you have to use deductive reasoning to figure out what’s what. This isn’t a game changer, but it is worth mentioning as you consider assembling the SnuzPod 5 Bedside Bassinet.
One important thing to consider when assembling is your bed height. You can assemble this bassinet as a free-standing unit or attach it to a bed, so if you choose the bed option, carefully measure your adult mattress height to ensure you can see and reach your baby without getting up. You can adjust the setting later (or if you get a new mattress), but it’s worth measuring now to get it right and save time later.
Quality, Appearance, and Durability of SnuzPod Bedside Bassinet

The unique wood frame and sturdiness are where I feel it shines most. Many bassinets on the market feel flimsy and cheap, but the SnuzPod 5 Bedside Bassinet sleeper feels built to last. While you’ll likely only use it for a short time (it can only be used until your baby is about 20 pounds), you’ll want to keep it if you plan to have more children in the future.
While this bassinet is undeniably expensive, it’s worth the splurge if you want a strategic piece of furniture for your home. This bassinet’s neutral design is truly beautiful. I chose the cashmere color, but all five available colors should blend effortlessly with your home’s aesthetic. Most importantly, the SnuzPod 5 Bedside Bassinet meets CPSC and Baby Safety Alliance certification requirements. The frame may use slightly different materials depending on the color you choose, but it’s either engineered plywood or beech-faced plywood.

In My Expert Opinion

Choosing baby products like a bedside bassinet is tough because so many great options are on the market. Ultimately, many parents struggle to justify overspending on a product their baby will use for so little time. Whether to splurge on the SnuzPod5 Bedside Bassinet depends on your financial situation.
SnuzPod 5 Bedside Bassinet
If you’re buying this as a gift, plan to have future kids, or want the best-of-the-best bassinet, you won’t be disappointed. Personally, I like this bassinet better as a secondary or “downstairs” bassinet, giving you a safe place to put the baby down on your main level. Yes, you can find a suitable bassinet for your baby for less, there’s no denying that, but for a luxury bassinet, this one feels worthwhile. The downsides? You’ll need to remove the wheels to use the manual rocking motion (unlike many bassinets on the market), and you won’t get all the bells and whistles of some (like sound and light bars).
