Lightweight Design
Lots of luggage brands claim their bags are lightweight — until you find yourself battling with your home bathroom scale to get your bag under 50 lbs. As soon as I opened the box of these Calpak Ambeur bags, I could tell they were truly lightweight. I like to keep my luggage as light as possible so I can pack as much as possible. Both the carry-on and the checked bag sizes are spacious and lightweight — a must for me. The expandable zipper is also ideal for overpackers.
Color Selection
This luggage set comes in many colors, all of which look sleek with a beautiful hard-sided design. I love the silver, but I also love the limited-edition Gunmetal color. The Metallic Red is also a great option if you want something bold (and a suitcase you know will be yours as it spins around on the luggage carousel). All colors in this metallic suitcase are mature and trendy, but no patterns or overly bold designs are offered. I’d say this is a great suitcase for the fashionable, yet understated traveler.
How It Rolls
There’s nothing worse than a suitcase that looks beautiful but has low-quality wheels. For avid travelers looking to invest in a suitcase set at this price point, we have expectations. This luggage set is bult with quality 360-degree spinner wheels that make it easy to travel through any situation. When I tried them out under real-world conditions, the wheels rolled really smoothly.
The organization pockets inside both the checked bag and carry-on size bag are also a nice bonus. In comparison, many suitcases I’ve tried have one big zipper but lack individual storage compartments. I noticed that instantly about this luggage. This luggage has a boxy design that could take you by surprise when it first arrives. However, I found I quickly got used to the design and grew to love it more than other luggage sets I own.
Personally, I’ve never been one to care much about locking my suitcase. However, for travelers who do prefer to lock up valuables, both pieces in this set have a built-in TSA-friendly combination lock for worry-free travel. Additionally, I’ve noticed many brands that offer carry-on luggage offer one that zips forward. While I understand this is trendy, I prefer the classic all-around zipper opening that this suitcase offers.

But regular travelers know the importance of investing in quality luggage. While this set is a splurge, it’s one that will last you for many years. The quality of the Calpak Ambeur set impressed me both before and after travel.
