As someone prone to dry hair, skin, and sinuses in the cooler months of the year, I always have a humidifier running in my home. Like many small home electronics, humidifiers all function with the same purpose (and general mechanisms): to add moisture back into dry air.
While there are many products on the market, I found Dreo’s HM717S Smart Humidifier to be especially easy to use. This “smart” humidifier includes many modern features that feel like an upgrade over other models I’ve had in the past. Here’s what I liked about this user-friendly humidifier, and why it might be worth the upgrade for your home, too.

User-Friendly Design
After a few nights of using the Dreo HM717S Smart Humidifier, I instantly fell in love with one simple, yet important feature of the device: The water tank has an easy handle on the top, which makes transporting and filling the tank so much easier.
Though I’ve tried many other brands and models of humidifiers, this is the first time I’ve seen this feature. It’s so smart and makes so much sense, as I’ve spilled distilled water many times trying to get the water tank back to the unit. With a large, eight-liter water tank, you won’t have to refill too often anyway, but when you do, the handle is a user-friendly feature that Dreo definitely thought out when designing this product.

Color Feature
Another standout feature of the HM717S humidifier is the color feature, which helps you see exactly where the humidity levels are in your room: A blue light indicates humidity levels are greater than 61%, a yellow light indicates under 30%, and a green light represents somewhere in between, from 31 to 60%. The customizable ambient light also looks pretty, though you can choose to turn this feature off if you prefer.
Warm and Cool Mist Features

This humidifier allows you to choose between warm and cool mist, which is a nice feature, depending on your needs. For a quieter operation, select the warm mist, which does not require fans to cool the water and brings the overall sound level down. I’ve been impressed by the quiet nature of Dreo fans I’ve tried before, so I had high hopes for noise control when trying out this product. Overall, it’s pretty quiet and I had no complaints.
Other Dreo products come with remotes, so I was disappointed to find this product does not. However, the “smart” nature of the device allows you to pair it wirelessly with the Dreo app on your phone. As such, your phone acts as a remote control, allowing you to turn the device on and off without having to get up out of bed.

In My Expert Opinion
Adding a humidifier to your space helps fight against dry air, offering many benefits for your health. Since I’ve started using one every night, I’ve had much better sinus-related and allergy symptoms. There are hundreds of models to choose from when searching for a humidifier for your home: For rooms up to 600 square feet, the Dreo HM717S Smart model is a solid buy, with several features that make use easy.
Dreo products consistently receive great customer reviews, and it’s easy to see why. The Quick-use guide that comes with the product makes set-up a breeze — you only need a little under 10 minutes total to learn how to use this device. Although its price point is higher than other comparable eight-liter models, the minimalistic, modern design and integrated features make this model worth buying.
