As someone who spends a lot of time walking trails, I’m always looking for shoes that stand up to the test. So when I saw the Martlett Hiking Sandal from Amento, my curiosity was immediately piqued.
When I had the opportunity to try these shoes, I was excited to take them for a spin. I’m pleased to report they’ve become a go-to for me.
Martlett Hiking Sandal
Taking These For A Spin
As someone who loves to hike, whether at home in Florida or farther afield, I need rugged shoes that can handle everything I put them through. For years, possibly a decade, I’ve loyally worn out several pairs of Chacos. But when it was time to get another pair, I thought it would be a good time to try out something different. And I’m so glad I did.
Within a few minutes of wearing these sandals on a sandy and somewhat steep hill, I knew I had found something good. These shoes offered me plenty of support and lots of traction as I made my way around. Even on flat ground, I loved the cushy support these shoes provided.
Surprisingly, I liked the small dial closing system, which makes it easy to get the perfect fit. It felt more like I was wearing my supportive running shoes but with the perfect amount of airflow.
Pros
- Lots of cushion and support.
- Easy to adjust.
- Good traction.
Cons
- Only two colors.
- Somewhat pricey.
- Not good for water.
In My Expert Opinion
In my opinion, these are great hiking shoes for the summer months. You get the breezy airflow of a sandal but all of the support of a more serious looking hiking shoe.
I do love the dial adjustment for sizing. But I do wonder about the long-term effectiveness of this little wheel. So far, I’ve managed to avoid getting these shoes too wet out of concern for the mechanics. I’m not sure what would happen if these got wet often, which is a small drawback.
Also, the limited color selection might be an issue for some. Personally, I love the pink shoes I have. But with the only alternative being black, it might not work for everyone’s style.
Overall, I would highly recommend these shoes to anyone looking to do some hiking in comfortable and supportive sandals.
