As someone who’s been a remote worker my entire career, I’ve found myself needing to be productive at home, while staying in hotel rooms, at airports, and even while waiting for my car to be repaired at the dealership (which is where I am right now). Sure, the single 13-inch display built into my MacBook Pro is great, but by attaching the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender, my productivity instantly improves.

When using this three monitor setup, I typically run Microsoft Word or Google Docs on my laptop’s main display, the Safari or Chrome web browser on the left display, and Slack or another messaging app on the right display. And when I am using a Windows laptop instead of my MacBook Pro, I find the same Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender to be equally useful. However, if two additional 14-inch displays aren’t large enough to meet your needs, Oiiwak offers a version of the device with two 15-inch, 1080p resolution displays, too.

Shown above is my 13” MacBook Pro laptop on top of the folded Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender (that’s within its included leather cover).

When the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender was first released in April 2023, the folks at Oiiwak provided me with a review unit. I’ve been using it ever since. Over the years, I’ve also worked with several other portable monitor options for my laptop, but I’ve always come back to using this three monitor Oiiwak model.

Keep reading to learn more about why the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender is useful for anyone who needs to become extra productive working from almost anywhere with their laptop.

Why Three Screens On Your Laptop Are Better Than One

The biggest problem I have when working with any laptop is that the one screen is ideal when working with one application at a time, but when I’m trying to multitask, having to manually switch between windows and then resize those windows, if needed, is both time consuming and a bit tedious. Having to do this slows down my workflow and causes distractions.

In the past, I tried connecting a single portable monitor to my laptop. Doing this helped to boost my productivity and easily run two applications at once. However, I’ve found myself being even more productive using a three monitor setup, and that’s what the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender offers. Using this device, it’s possible to run three separate applications at once and simultaneously see everything displayed across each of the screens. In other words, multitasking has never been easier.

As long as I have a flat surface (such as a table or desk) to work from with ample space to spread the monitors out the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender quickly unfolds and is ready to use in about one minute. My biggest complaint is that it’s not possible to separately adjust the vertical viewing angle of each monitor. Instead, the angle you position the laptop’s main screen at is what becomes the viewing angle offered by the two extra screens.

So, unlike when using other portable monitor setups, the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender does not allow you to swivel either of the add-on monitors by 180-degrees to share what’s on the display with someone sitting opposite from you. This device is much better suited for a remote worker who wants access to a lot more on-screen real estate as they’re working on their own.

Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender Makes Sense for Remote Workers

Being a remote worker often requires someone to set up a functional workspace wherever they happen to be. While any Windows or MacBook laptop gives users the computing power they need, the size of the laptop’s display is often limited when it comes to multitasking. Having tried multiple portable monitors in the past, I discovered some are not well made, others lack decent resolution and brightness, most drain a laptop’s battery too quickly, or they’re too cumbersome and heavy to carry around.

None of this is the case when using the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender. During transport, the monitors fold up and come with a cover to protect the screens. When folded, the size of the package is about the same as the laptop itself.

I love that the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender unfolds and sets up quickly. It’s also made using a durable aluminum housing. The two extra monitors both offer 1,920 x 1,200 pixel resolution, with a maximum brightness of 400 nits and a 60Hz refresh rate. Each can display up to 16.7 million colors, so whatever applications I’m running typically look great.

The monitors are also plug-and-play, meaning you don’t need any drivers or special software to use them. The additional 14-inch displays the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender provide work great with any Windows or MacOS laptop with a built-in display that’s between 13 and 16 inches. On the side of each monitor is a small dial for manually adjusting brightness.

Connecting the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender to a Laptop Is Easy

This is the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender folded, within the included protective cover.

Once the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender is unfolded, the center section between the two additional monitors attaches to the back of your laptop’s existing monitor using an adjustable bracket system that stays snuggly in place using pressure.

Using the two supplied cables, one end of each cable connects to the USB Type-C port built into the side of each monitor, while the other end attaches to one of the laptop’s USB Type-C ports. So, to connect and work with both monitors, it requires using two of a computer’s USB Type-C ports. On the plus side, the additional monitors are powered from the laptop itself, so no additional power supply is needed.

I noticed that when my laptop is running on battery power, the two added monitors appear a bit dimmer, but they become brighter whenever the laptop is plugged into an external power source.

The adjustable kickstand on the back of the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender allows you to adjust the vertical viewing angle of all three screens, while providing support for them.

On the back of the device is an adjustable kickstand. This allows the viewing angle and stability of the monitors to be adjusted. To adjust the functionality of the monitors based on what’s possible using your laptop, from System Settings on a MacBook, select the Displays option. If you’re using a Windows laptop, similar settings can be adjusted by accessing Start, followed by the Settings, System, then the Display submenu

Taking the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender On The Go

The leather cover that comes with the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender keeps the two extra displays safe when the device is being transported or stored. However, this cover does not have a place to store the required USB cables.

Both my laptop and the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender easily fit within my padded Timbuk2 carrying case.

I use a single laptop case to carry both my MacBook and the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender. My Timbuk2 case also has separate pockets for the laptop’s power supply and the USB cables that come with the screen extender.

Who Will Get the Most Out of the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Screen Extender?

Any laptop user, such as a business person, creative, or student, who could benefit from having three screens able to simultaneously showcase separate applications, and also needs to drag-and-drop or cut-and-paste content between those applications, will immediately discover the benefits of using the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender.

Final Thoughts

Prior to trying out the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender, I had never heard of Oiiwak as a company. I am always a bit leery of using tech products from companies based overseas that I am not familiar with. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall quality, durability, and performance of this product. I’ve been using it for more than two years now, have traveled extensively with it, and it consistently works reliably.

Would I prefer adding extra monitors that offer 4K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate to my laptop? Sure. But to handle my everyday mobile computing needs and workflow, the displays offered by the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender are more than adequate. A serious PC gamer, or perhaps a professional graphic designer, photographer, or video editor who needs to work with high-resolution content may feel differently, however.

Now priced at less than $250 on Amazon, I certainly recommend the Oiiwak 14” Triple Screen Laptop Extender to anyone looking for more on-screen real estate when using their laptop. In my opinion, it checks most of the boxes in terms of key features to seek out when looking to connect two portable monitors to an existing laptop, and be able to do this at an affordable price.
