I’ve been using an air purifier in my house for years, consistently repurchasing new air filters as they become visibly dirty (every couple months or so). With filters for so many household products, it seems there’s always something to buy, whether it’s a new filter for my shower head or a filter for my HVAC system. While there’s nothing wrong with the good, old-fashioned way of buying replacement filters, it doesn’t surprise me that Shark found a way to do it better. (I live directly across from a quarry, so I spend a lot of time thinking about the air quality in my home.)
Shark has been making NeverChange air purifiers for several years now, but recently launched a new product in its lineup. The first-generation Shark NeverChange air purifier already had the same concept going for it — only change your filter every five years or so — but this new model launch takes things one step further by including a smart air intelligence system that tracks air trends over time. Unsurprisingly, every gadget in our world is getting smarter, and our air purifiers are no exception. If you were already familiar with the Shark NeverChange air purifier, you know that one of the key features of this device is not having to change the filter. Unlike a traditional air purifier, the “NeverChange” concept means you can go up to six years without a replacement. In comparison, the average air filter in a purifier needs to be replaced every six to twelve months.
The Shark BreatheClear Max got a major upgrade to air filtration from the previous model, allowing it to cover more space in your home. The standard Shark NeverChange could cover up to 1,400 square feet, whereas the new model can cover 1,650 square feet. This is a game changer for larger rooms and larger homes.

My Air IQ Air Tracking
I strongly believe that knowledge is power, and apparently Shark does, too. The new My Air IQ Air Tracking feature is an upgrade that allows users to keep an eye on air quality right from the display. The display will change colors based on the quality of the air, with red representing poor air quality and blue representing clean air.
The air purifier informed me of the humidity, VOCs, temperature, etc., all from the sensors within the device. This means I no longer have to use my separate countertop air quality monitor (which takes up space on my kitchen countertop).
Like any air purifier, the device can get noisy at times, but it’s a price worth paying for clean air. Plus, it still seems quieter than most other brands I’ve tried. While the previous model just reacted to changes in air quality, this air purifier actually adapts to maintain the cleanest possible air in your home at all times.

Purchasing higher-end air purifiers for your home is a personal decision. For those on a budget, splurging on an air purifier this expensive may not be necessary. However, if you have sensitive lungs or certain health conditions, live in an urban or high-pollution area, or have pets in the home, a smart purifier like this one is worth the investment.
Despite the higher up-front cost, you’ve got the peace of mind of knowing you don’t need to worry about changing the filter (and one less thing on your to-do list). For busy families that may be forgetting to change their air purifier filter as frequently as they should, this is a game changer.

Like every Shark product I’ve used, the set-up process of the Shark BreatheClear Max with NeverChange is effortless. Within just 10 minutes I already knew the ins and outs of this easy-to-use machine. Before buying, you’ll definitely want to make sure you have ample floor space to dedicate to this product.
For smaller rooms, this product will likely be too big. But, per the most recent press release, it sounds like Shark has plans to expand with smaller options geared towards smaller home spaces in the near future. If you do have the floor space to dedicate, I think you’ll find this product can deliver peace of mind for you and your family (because nothing matters more than our health!)
