I’ve tested a handful of robotic vacuums and mop combos over the years, so when Yeedi provided me with a review unit of the S16 Plus, I was excited to put it to work in my home. Keep reading to discover how well this higher-end robotic vacuum performed and whether it’s worth the $1,000+ investment.

Who Does the Yeedi S16 Plus Appeal To?

There are now literally hundreds of robotic cleaning products on the market from a wide range of brands. Prices for these high-tech devices vary between several hundred and thousands of dollars. The Yeedi S16 Plus certainly falls into the higher-end category.
What you get for the investment are the latest technologies when it comes to a robotic vacuum and mop combined into a single device. Like most of these cutting-edge cleaning tools, this one includes a multi-function base station and can be operated using a versatile smartphone app. Between its capabilities, integrated technologies, and premium price, the Yeedi S16 Plus appeals mainly to people with larger living spaces containing plenty of floor space that needs to be kept clean. This device can automatically switch between vacuum and mopping mode.
After mapping out your living space, the Yeedi S16 Plus offers 100% floor coverage, thanks to its integrated edge and corner cleaning system. The robot relies on its own mapping and dToF LiDar obstacle avoidance technologies, so it nicely avoids crashing into furniture, larger objects left on the floor, and stairs. After its initial set up, it can clean on a predetermined schedule, be activated using voice commands, or controlled using the Yeedi mobile app.
The Yeedi S16 Plus is best for folks who want to automate the floor cleaning process, benefit from a device with self-cleaning capabilities, and who want to have a robot on hand that can be summoned to quickly clean up a mess in a specific area of a home.
Ultimately, what you’re paying for are advanced technologies like deep stain detection and auto-remopping that use AI to detect dirt and then automatically perform those tasks needed to ensure the floor is perfectly cleaned every time the robot is activated. The robot and base station combined are designed to provide up to 150 days of maintenance-free operation.
Yeedi S16 Plus Key Features

There’s a lot to appreciate about the Yeedi S16 Plus, including its collection of higher-end features. While operational, the Yeedi S16 Plus can definitely be heard, but it’s quieter than a traditional vacuum. Like all autonomous vacuuming and mopping robots, the cleaning process takes longer than cleaning manually using a traditional vacuum or mop, but the robot automates these tasks so they no longer need to be done by a person.
Yeedi has designed what it calls “BLAST” (Boosted Large-Airflow Suction Technology) that takes advantage of larger fan blades, a wider air inlet, and a more streamlined aerodynamic duct (compared to many competing models) to provide stronger and more even airflow, plus up to 16,0000Pa of suction power when it’s vacuuming.
The BLAST system is complemented by a 100-watt high-torque motor, so it generates more torque and higher discharge than the company’s older or less expensive robotic cleaning tools. As a result, it does a better job picking up embedded dust, pet hair, and other debris. Other cleaning features that I found work nicely include a cyclone-brush system with a triple-lift function that automatically raises the mop, main brush, and side brush when the robot travels over or begins vacuuming carpet.
During the cleaning process, one feature that impressed me a lot was the adaptive edge cleaning. It allows the robot to access hard-to-reach areas that many robotic cleaners often miss. This includes edges between the floor and walls, and tight corners. Then, when the mopping and vacuuming is completed, the robot returns to its base station and automatically transfers the contents of its dust and dirty water bins into the base station’s larger tanks. It then cleans and dries the mop brushes, before refilling the robot’s water tank with clean water.
Integrated Technologies Help It Avoid Obstacles
Located around the outer rounded edges of the robot are a collection of sensors that discover the best cleaning path to take to avoid obstacles. These include:
- An integrated navigation and laser ranging module that automatically calculates the distance between the robot and surrounding objects up to 32 feet away, allowing the robot to calculate the best possible cleaning route.
- The obstacle avoidance module that uses infrared ranging detection to identify and avoid obstacles in its path. In many cases, the robot typically avoids these obstacles altogether by altering its direction, as opposed to lightly touching an object before altering its course.
- Anti-drop sensors that continuously measure the distance between the unit’s bottom and the ground. This allows the robot to determine if it’s safe to proceed, such as when it reaches the edge between hard floor and carpeting, or if it’s approaching a staircase that should be avoided altogether.
- A carpet detection sensor (which is an ultrasound probe) that lets the robot know when it’s cleaning carpets versus hardwood floors. It then adjusts its vacuum settings automatically.
- An anti-collision sensor that uses a transmitted signal to determine if an object is directly in its path.
- An edge sensor that calculates the distance between its right side and the wall or edge and switch to its edge cleaning mode without crashing into the wall.
- An external bumper that immediately stops the robot and changes its direction when activated.
For all of these sensors and technologies to work in unison, the robot needs to be working in a well lit environment (and not in the dark). Yes, it has an LED headlight, but this is only to help it navigate in smaller dark areas, such as under furniture. And even with these technologies, the robot can still encounter obstacles or situations it’s not equipped to handle.
Therefore, before the robot begins cleaning, it’s essential for it to establish an accurate map of the area. Then, the user should manually remove small objects that are low to the ground, such as a dish containing food or small toys. Other items like cables, small articles of clothing, and slippers should also be removed prior to activating the robot.
During testing, I noticed that if there’s an area rug surrounded by hard flooring, the edge or corner of the rug can get caught as the robot attempts to drive over it while vacuuming. If the area rug has very thin edges or tassels, these should be folded under.
Unboxing and Setting Up the Yeedi S16 Plus
With the exception of liquid cleaner for use with the robot’s mopping system and clean water for its tank, the Yeedi S16 Plus comes with everything needed to begin cleaning the floors in a home once its battery is fully charged and the robot is given the chance to map out the cleaning area (which only needs to be done once).
Thanks to the illustrated quick start guide, hearing the robot’s voice explain key steps, and step-by-step setup directions offered by the Yeedi smartphone app (for iOS and Android), the setup process is rather easy. Don’t be intimidated by all of the pieces that come in the box. There’s practically zero assembly required.
The most complicated aspect of using the Yeedy S16 Plus is customizing the mobile app’s features so the robot performs the tasks you desire at the schedule you pre-determine. Plan on spending at least 15 to 30 minutes once the robot does its initial mapping to access the Robot Advanced Settings and Station Advanced Settings to customize the various options before the robot actually does its first cleaning.
Once a detailed map of the cleaning area is created by the robot, use the app’s tools to identify each room by name, and then manually mark on the map where large furniture items (such as a couch or bed) are located. It’s also helpful to the robot for the user to identify area rugs, doorways, and other potential obstacles via the app.
Finally, allow the robot to fully charge within the base station before instructing it to begin vacuuming or mopping the floors for the first time. Most of the steps in the setup process only need to be done once, but options you turn on or off can be adjusted at any time later. I found that the more time you invest adding details to the map created by the robot, the better it will perform. This includes blocking out areas where you do not want the robot to go.
Get Acquainted With the Circular Robot

The robot itself has all of the built-in sensors, small tanks for clean and dirty water, and a dust bin. Under the top cover, there’s a main power button and a switch to activate the Wi-Fi. To function properly, the Yeedi S16 Plus relies on both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi within a home. Keep in mind, for the robot’s battery to charge, both the robot and the base station’s power must be turned on. You can monitor the charging progress from the Yeedi app.
I really like that when the robot returns to its base station after each cleaning process, it cleans itself and empties its bins into the larger bins integrated into the base station. This means you only periodically need to empty the dirty tanks and bins, and then replenish the clean water tank. How often you need to do this depends on the size of the area the robot is expected to clean and the frequency you activate it.
I suggest periodically inspecting the robot to make sure none of its sensors are covered with dust, as this will impact the accuracy of its navigation. Otherwise, if the robot encounters any issues, the robot’s voice will explain what’s wrong and a notification immediately appears on your smartphone.
Discover What the Base Station Has to Offer

The Base Station needs to be placed near an electrical outlet and remain plugged in. Make sure there’s about 16 inches of space to the left and right of it. It should also not be placed in an area where there’s direct sunlight.

Your key responsibilities include refilling the clean water tank, adding cleaning solution to the cleaning solution tank, emptying the dirty water tank, and replacing the dust bag anytime the app or the robot reports they’re filled up. After about 120 hours of use, the robot’s filter also needs to be replaced.
The mop roller and side brushes are designed to function for about 150 hours before needing replacement, while the vacuum brush will last for up to 300 hours. The dust bag needs to be replaced anytime it’s full, while the cleaning solution tank needs to be refilled whenever it is empty. The robot and the Yeedi app will notify you when these tasks need to be handled.
Yeedi also periodically releases a firmware update for the robot. The update process can be initiated via the app and takes about five minutes. Otherwise, the Yeedi 16S Plus is designed to work pretty much on its own, once you customize all of the necessary settings using the Yeedi app which you can download from the Apple Apple Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

Take Control Using the Yeedi Mobile App

The most complicated aspect of using the Yeedi S16 Plus is learning how to navigate around the mobile and discovering what tasks it’s designed to help users manage. When it comes to the initial setup, the app walks new users through connecting the robot to a home’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and then pairing the robot with the app. Then, there are multiple screens on the app (shown in the smartphone screenshots above) that include customizable advanced settings for the robot itself.

The Yeedi mobile app also includes a group of menu screens (shown in the smartphone screenshots above) for customizing the base station’s advanced settings. After the robot generates a map of the areas to be cleaned, the user can access the app to fine-tune the map by naming each area, and then adding the location of larger furniture pieces and area rugs, for example. This is shown in the collection of smartphone screenshots below.

The Yeedi S16 Plus’ Performance
Using voice commands or the Yeedi mobile app, you can activate the Yeedi S16 Plus robot to begin the vacuuming and/or mopping process. You can also state if you want the entire mapped out area to be cleaned, or if you only want a specific area or room cleaned.
From the smartphone app, be sure to manually adjust the handful of cleaning options, like the cleaning mode, suction level, water flow rate, cleaning speed, and number of cleaning passes. This is shown in the selection of smartphone screenshots below.

Instead of activating the Yeedi S16 Plus manually (which you can do anytime), from the app, it’s easy to set up a cleaning schedule. When creating a schedule, you determine the days and times you want the robot to activate, what areas should be cleaned, and whether it should vacuum, mop, or handle both tasks. As you can see from the selection of smartphone screenshots below, there are a handful of scheduling options.
The app also maintains a detailed cleaning log, so from your smartphone, you can determine what was done and when, see how long each cleaning took, and more. Built into the app are also four cleaning scenarios: Daily Clean, Post-Meal Clean, Pet Area Clean, and Deep Clean. Once you customize these tasks once, they can be activated with a single on-screen tap or using a voice command. This is shown in the sampling of smartphone screenshots below.

As the Yeedi S16 Plus robot is doing its thing around your home, simply leave it alone. When the robot is working, I suggest you do not leave it unattended if there are young children or pets in the space being cleaned. I noticed that the robot often follows a seemingly repetitive and random path when doing its cleaning, but in reality, it’s following what it has calculated to be the most efficient route to take, based on the required tasks and surrounding obstacles.

Yes, It Can Avoid Pet Poop, But It’s Best to Ensure the Robot Won’t Encounter It
One word of warning, the sensors built into the robot are not fool-proof. While theoretically, it should be able to identify pet poop on the floor and avoid it, do not count on this. Instead, either clean up any pet waste before the robot does its thing, or do not have the robot clean areas where pet waste may be present on the floor. While I didn’t test if the robot would avoid pet poop, I did place a plate of mushy food on the floor several times to see how the robot would respond.
In a few instances, it touched the edge of the plate and immediately changed directions, but if the plate was very low to the ground, the robot began to drive over it before sensing its presence. When this occurred, the bottom of the robot (including the mop brush and vacuum brush) got some of the mushy food on it, which needed to be manually cleaned. You would not want this to happen with pet waste, as it could create a mess within the robot’s inner workings. That said, the robot has no trouble picking up small pieces of dried food and crumbs, as well as everyday dust and dirt.
I found it’s best to use common sense before instructing the robot to clean an area of a home. Anticipate potential problems and remove them so the robot can work efficiently to do its cleaning, without having to generate alerts that require your attention or accidentally creating a bigger mess.

My Final Thoughts: Is the Yeedi S16 Plus Worth It?
Released in mid-2025, the Yeedi S16 Plus is one of the most advanced and well designed robotic vacuum and mopping combos I’ve tested. While the smartphone app requires a slight learning curve, especially if you’re not too tech savvy, once it’s all set up, the robot can keep your floors mopped and vacuumed in a way that requires the most minimal efforts on the user’s part.
Yes, the Yeedi S16 Plus is on the expensive side, but for the investment, you’re getting some advanced features and technologies you won’t typically find in less costly floor cleaning robots. For households that have large rooms with plenty of open floor space (hard floors, area rugs, or wall-to-wall carpeting), the Yeedi S16 Plus can do an impressive job keeping them clean.
However, if your home has smaller rooms with a lot of hard to navigate around furniture and other obstacles, this probably is not the floor cleaning robot that can meet your needs. Overall, I was impressed by the quality and performance of the Yeedy S16 Plus and believe it’s worth the investment – especially when the unit goes on sale. As I was writing this review, the Yeedi 16 Plus’ $1,600 retail price was being discounted by $600 on Amazon.
