I’ve wanted a pair of cute pajamas for a very long time, but I always just grab a pair of ratty sweatpants and call it a night. I always told myself that I would buy them when I reached a certain goal or milestone, but those came and went, and I just never treated myself. When Samantha Gold, founder of Motette, reached out to tell me about her bamboo PJs, I was excited, to say the least.
Samantha’s company was born out of her frustration when it came to finding everyday pajamas for her kids that were also functional and not too cheesy. She also wanted to be able to wear matching PJs that reflected her style which can be hard to do when all she saw were bold, loud prints.
I got the Porcelain Vine Short Sleeve & Pants Bamboo Women’s Pajama Set, and the second I felt them, I fell in love. I’m very obsessed with their weight, but first, let’s take a closer look at the PJs.

Why Bamboo?
The website says that these pajamas are made of bamboo and are buttery-soft, and I found this to be very true. The bamboo material is so soft, and the children’s PJs are made of the same material. Samantha shared that she chose bamboo because it’s sustainable, hypoallergenic, and unbelievably soft.
Because bamboo is moisture-wicking and temperature-regulating, Samantha said it “makes it perfect year-round. You don’t have to worry about being too hot or too cold.” I can definitely vouch for them keeping me warm, but when it was hot in our house this summer, I still opted for shorts and a t-shirt. If you are a hot sleeper, Motette also offers sets with shorts that I bet would be perfect for hotter nights.
Just the Right Weight
I don’t know why I’m so obsessed with this feature, but Samantha did say she spent a lot of time also obsessing about the fabric weight. It’s really hard to explain because the fabric is lightweight, but there’s enough weight to it that when I drop it onto my shoulders, it feels like a hug. It’s unlike any clothing item I’ve ever worn.
Just now, when I put them on to take the pictures, I thought, “these are just the perfect weight.” It’s like they settle onto my body rather than just covering it, if that makes sense?
A Comfy Waistband
One of the most uncomfortable things, I think, is a tight waistband — especially at night. When Samantha told me that these had a drawstring waistband, I was a little wary. I’ve had PJs with a drawstring that are too tight when they’re tied and too loose when they’re not.
Thankfully, these are also elastic and they fit well even without tying the drawstring. They’re meant to have a loose fit that still looks intentional. I didn’t have these when I was pregnant or post-partum, but I imagine that they would be flexible as your body changes. And they would help you feel more put together than the oversized sweats I wore with each of my kids.
Community-Built
As Samantha was building Motette, she tapped into the community she built of over 5,000 women who she says, “weigh in on everything — from prints to fit to style — and their input is what drives the direction of our brand.” She listens to the voices from her community to make sure that what she creates is really built for moms and kids.
Care and Sizing
I’ve washed my PJ set multiple times and haven’t noticed any wear or issues. The care instructions (that I literally just looked at) say machine wash cold and tumble dry low, which is what I do for everything (whew!).
I’m 5’5” and 155 pounds, and the medium fits really well. The waistband sits right below my belly button and the bottom of the pants just graze the ground. You could pull them up if you’re a little shorter and don’t want to walk on the bottom of the pantlegs. According to the website, the sets run on the larger side, and they recommend sizing down if you think you’re between sizes.

The Price of Quality
To be honest, one of the reasons I’ve never bought myself a nice pair of pajamas is that I didn’t want to spend the money. (I prefer to spend my cash on burritos and coffee.) I do, however, understand that when you factor in the per wear cost, the investment pays off to look and feel your best when you crawl into bed.
Samantha’s focus on creating something that works for families really shines through in how she approaches her products. She says, “I wanted something timeless and elevated — pieces that felt special but still worked for the chaos of real life with little ones.”
