Testing earbuds is always a treat, because it’s easy to fit it into my busy schedule while getting a feel for how they feel, sound, and perform. When I log out from my laptop in the late night/extremely early morning, I’m glad to feel that the Momentum True Wireless 4, by Sennheiser, remains one of those rare devices that still feel cozy in-ear after many hours of listening.

I can’t blame Sennheiser for highlighting the extremely long battery life, perfect active noise cancellation, and top-tier sound quality as major selling points, because they are, but since these earbuds fit like a glove, they’re a serious contender for buyers who need a pair that sound as good as they feel in your ear canal.  If you’re as picky about your audio as I am, you’ll want to learn all about these.

Digging that Unique Style and Genuine Comfort

Right out of the box, the Momentum True Wireless 4 feels like a high-end device, with its classy fabric-covered charging case and stylish cube-like earbuds. These are available in your choice of five attractive colorways, and I knew I’d love the shimmering gold nugget edition. Unlike slender athletic models, these earbuds stick out of your ear a bit, like chubby little metallic blocks, and I love the different aesthetic choice — there’s just a modern “something” about its design that I inherently like more than the ultra-basic styles on the market (your milage may vary).

I touched on it earlier, but with three sizes of included silicone ear tips and a form-fitting design that rests neatly and securely in your ear, these are well-suited for enjoying crystal-clear music at home, work, or throughout your average day without worrying about discomfort or accidentally losing one along the way.

I’d like to note that while they’re splashproof and water resistant enough to be worn in the rain, the True Wireless 4 probably wouldn’t survive being submerged or run under water in the sink to clean them, so if you’re in the market for dedicated fitness earbuds, look elsewhere.

I really appreciate it when earbuds implement intuitively designed touch controls, and the True Wireless 4’s are as straightforward as they get. For example, a tap of the left earbud turns transparency mode on and off, allowing you to instantly react to unexpected conversations and get back into enjoying your music in a split-second. It sounds cliché, but memorizing this model’s gentle tap-based controls are like riding a bike, and you’ll be a natural in no time.

The companion app is well designed, too, and it gives owners a range of options, including the ability to completely customize the on-device touch controls and audio levels, activate Eco Mode for getting as much battery life from your earbuds as possible, use the absolutely gorgeous-sounding “High Resolution Audio” mode for the best-sounding audio the device can produce, and much more. Anyone who invests in a pair owes it to themselves to explore the app for a comprehensively personalized listening experience, or else they’re missing out.

Convenient Battery Life and Quick-Charging

There are many reasons I keep recommending these as excellent workplace earbuds, and one of the most important is how I got nearly eight hours of battery life per charge, meaning the Momentum True Wireless 4 should get the average listener though the workday. Even if the fully charged earbuds fall short when you’re going above and beyond, simply pop them back into their fabric-coated case for just eight minutes and you’ll get another hour and a half-ish of playtime. Note that the charging case holds 30 hours of backup battery life for these earbuds, so even the most dedicated of listeners will go for multiple days without needing to top off the case via its USB-C port or wireless charging.

Feature-rich Listening

In addition to its comfy design and excellent sound quality, I’d consider them an excellent long-term investment due to how Bluetooth 5.4 compatibility connects to a gigantic array of smartphones, PCs, tablets, and practically any new device you’ll adopt in the future. You can configure up to six to a single pair, making it a snap to bounce between favorite gadgets as I did throughout my weeks of testing. The microphone is rock-solid and I had no issues enjoying extended calls via these earbuds outside of one specific condition — windy days. Not a dealbreaker by miles, but a tiny nitpick just in case you’re specifically looking to have long conversations while you’re out riding your bike.

I’ll be the first to admit that at $349.95, Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless 4 earbuds may make you pause for a moment. But, if you’re the type who takes excellent care of your gear and are a power listener of music and podcasts for multiple days a week, it’s an easy investment to make. The gentle, yet beautifully pitch-perfect and immersive sound, comfortable fit, and wealth of easily adjustable options to make them fit your ears like a glove are certainly worth the price of entry, and the ability to effortlessly use them with any Bluetooth device in your arsenal will make these your go-to earbuds for those cool new devices you’ll get in the future.
