If you’re anything like me, you believe that a good hair day makes everything better. And whether you prefer bouncy curls, pin straight styles, beachy waves, or something in between, having the right tool for the job is essential.
That’s why I tried the T3 Curling Straightener, a two-in-one tool that claims to straighten, curl, and wave any type of hair in a single pass. While I found these claims to be mostly true, one thing kept me from loving this product — the steep price tag of $199.99.

What Makes the T3 Curling Straightener Unique
The T3 Curling Straightener is a high-end styling tool, and it has some unique features that you won’t find with other brands:
- Wraparound Heated Plates: Wraparound heated plates allow you to clamp your hair between the plates, or wrap hair around both plates (like a curling wand). The plates have beveled edges so you can hold the tool close to the root.
- Longer Plates: T3 says that the Curling Straightener is designed with 20% longer plates, so you can style more hair with each pass, and style your hair faster. This is also ideal for people who have longer hair that usually takes a long time to curl or straighten.
- Digital T3 SinglePass® Technology: The straighter features T3’s SinglePass® Technology, which evenly heats the hair for one-pass styling. There are nine heat settings, so you can pick the level that works best for your hair type and texture.
- CeraGloss™ Ceramic: The heated plates are coated with CeraGloss™ ceramic, which aims to add shine, reduce static and frizz, and lock in your style. It also provides a smooth surface to glide your hair across while styling, so there’s no pulling.
My Experience Using the T3 Curling Straightener
I was sent the T3 Curling Straightener as a review sample. I used the product at home for over a week and tested out the different features and heat settings.
As someone with experience using both curling irons and straighteners, I found the T3 Curling Straightener to be very easy to use. It’s lightweight and doesn’t feel bulky or difficult to hold. If you’ve used a heat styling tool before, there shouldn’t be a learning curve with this one.
One of the things I liked most about the Curling Straightener is that it didn’t pull on my hair. Whether I was using it as a straightener, a curling iron, or a curling wand, my hair glided easily across the heated plates. With other tools, I’ve found that my hair gets stuck, or the tool pulls my hair out. I didn’t have any of those issues with this tool (thanks to the CeraGloss™ ceramic coating).
I was able to achieve lots of different looks with the Curling Straightener, including big curls, loose waves, and straight hair. I was even able to use the tool to get a blow out look by smoothing the top of my hair, and curling the ends slightly under. Most times, my hair looked great for two days after styling before it needed a touch up.
While the product is easy to use, I’m skeptical about the SinglePass® Technology. I have long hair that’s naturally wavy, with medium thickness. I didn’t feel like one pass was enough to get the desired effect, especially when straightening. I needed to go over the same section at least two or three times to get my hair completely straight.
When curling or waving, a single pass was sometimes enough to get the style I wanted. But even still, I usually had to go back through my hair to touch up a few sections at the end.
Because of that, I’m not sure if this product would be great for someone with thick hair, unless you’re comfortable using a high heat setting and you’re not styling your hair in a rush. And while the heated plates on the Curling Straightener are supposedly 20% longer, I didn’t feel like they were any longer than what you would find on a regular straightener.
Another thing I want to call out is the burn risk with this product. Because of the wraparound heated plates, I found that it was much easier to burn myself with this tool vs. a regular straightener. Fortunately, the T3 Curling Straightener does come with a heat-resistant glove, which I highly recommend using.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I think the T3 Curling Straightener is a great product, but it’s not a must-have. It functioned well as both a straightening iron and a curling iron, so it’s good for people who want an all-in-one tool (we know how bulky heat styling tools can be).

It could also be a good option for frequent travelers. You can achieve multiple looks using just one tool, so you don’t have to bring your curling iron, straighter, and blow out brush. The product also comes with a “lipstick case,” which fits over the heated plates and holds them together so nothing will get damaged in your luggage.
Lastly, let’s talk about the price. For $199.99 on T3’s website, the Curling Straightener is definitely a luxury item. And to be honest, my holy grail hair tools, like my 10-year-old Hot Tools curling iron, cost significantly less and are just as effective, if not better.
