I’ll be the first to admit it, but it felt like I was smacked by a gorilla when I saw the $250 price tag of the RUX 40L, however I instantly understood the high price of entry as soon as I got this beast in my hands.
RUX went above and beyond to ensure that everything from its heavy-duty crack and warp-resistant TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) waterproof lid, reinforced nylon material with rock-solid stitching, and rugged hooks, clasps, and handle are going to endure your intense adventures.
The good new is that even if something goes terribly wrong, this model is backed by a lifetime warranty, so feel free trust this featherweight (barely over five pounds when empty) fortress to endure being strapped to your boat, ATV, or Jeep for your wild adventures.
My favorite aspect is its waterproof design, as it not only ensures that my clothes, snacks, and sensitive devices will be pristine upon arrival, this model is a breeze to hose off when it’s inevitably hit with dust, grime, or mud.

One of the easiest things to appreciate about the RUX 40L is that feels like a Frankenstein storage container-backpack hybrid, and the concept works surprisingly well. Its deep box-like shape holds 40 liters of clothing, camping gear, groceries, and whatever else you need for your daily adventures.
It includes a set of four corner slats that keep the RUX expanded in its signature rectangle shape, but if you need a more flexible backpack/duffel bag-like storage solution, it takes moments to remove these and collapse it down.
Packing pros will make use of its ample storage space, whether you’re collecting essential camping or fishing gear, fragile supplies, or daytrip essentials. RUX hints at using this as a carry on, but if you do, I’d recommend looking into the RUX lineup of accessory storage cubes, pouches, and bags to neatly separate your stuff if you need it.
I always felt comfortable tossing its tough nylon straps over my shoulder or gripping its handle for short walks, but its rigid boxy design may not feel as cozy as a dedicated backpack for long distance hikers.

In My Expert Opinion
I appreciated my RUX 40L as a dedicated car trunk storage unit for keeping my tech and other critical gear safe and clean over a few months of use, and how easy it was to convert from a tall box for loads of extra storage to a flat backpack-like duffel to save space.
With that said, adventurers, those of us who spend a ton of time enjoying the great outdoors, and anyone considering storage that was absolutely made to endure are the types of people who should consider one of these.
Now here’s an endorsement: I’d rather have a collapsible, modular, and ultra-durable RUX as opposed to a hard side storage alternate from other pricey lifestyle brands that offer either bags or boxy containers and it beats swapping your goods from a plastic bin to a bag and back.
