I’m not sure we’ve ever had a dog who sheds as much as our Labrador. Fur just seems to fall off him every day, all day, all year long. We have a two-story with a narrow center staircase and hardwood floors everywhere, so for the last five years, we dragged out the big vacuum cleaner pretty much daily and wrestled it upstairs and down in a desperate bid to keep things clean. Lightweight and powerful, this thing zooms through the entire downstairs and tackles the staircase and landing in minutes, sucking up dog hair and dust. If you can’t already tell, I’m a fan, but let’s run through the highs and lows of the Simplicity Vacuums S67 Cordless Stick Vacuum anyway.

The Broom and Dustpan Upgrade
Let’s clarify a few things upfront. This is a cordless stick vacuum, so it doesn’t have the power or the suction of a standard plug-in vacuum. It’s not going to work particularly well for big messes, but it can definitely handle an upended box of cereal or tumbleweeds of dog hair. Basically, if it’s something you’d clean up with a broom and dustpan, the S67 Cordless Stick Vacuum is the vastly superior upgrade worth careful consideration.
Settings and Battery Life
Operating the S67 Cordless Stick Vacuum is simple. There’s a trigger to turn it on and off, and a single button to toggle between the settings:
- Eco is the default mode for light clean-ups and the longest battery life (roughly 35 minutes).
- Boost is a higher setting for stronger suction, which the brand recommends for routine carpet and pet hair cleaning. Runtime is shorter, roughly 20 minutes.
- Turbo mode is the strongest setting for maximum suction, with an even shorter runtime. It lasts maybe 15 minutes when we run it at this level. Again, ideal for a quick clean-up, but irritating if your plan is to vacuum the whole house.
We generally use the Simplicity to clean up dog hair and the tiny little winged seeds that fall off the weeping birch out front and then get tracked all over the downstairs. Since the floors are hardwood, the eco mode does just fine. We’ve used it on the carpet in the kids’ room upstairs as well, and I wasn’t overly impressed, even in Turbo mode — I can tell it’s working, but it’s just not as good as our plug-in vacuum.
Charging Time
We installed the charging dock in the garage, and that’s where the Simplicity lives when it’s not in use. It’s convenient, housing the vacuum itself and all of its components. It also means the vacuum stays charged so it’s ready to go when we need it. Charging time is pretty slow, between three and five hours for a full recharge, but it hasn’t actually been an issue.
Attachments and Versatility
The vacuum itself has a wand with a floor tool, but you can remove it all to use other attachments as well. They snap straight onto the main part of the vacuum, with removal via a little button. There are two attachments: a dust brush and an extendable crevice tool. Both work really well in the car for dust and the dog hair that inevitably makes it way in there, too. I’ve also used the dust brush to clean off our mantle, and the soft bristles mean I don’t have to worry about scratches.
Worth Noting
The Simplicity vacuum is around $250, and yes, you can get a very nice, full-size, plug-in vacuum for the same price. I don’t suggest replacing that kind of vacuum with this cordless stick version, especially if you have thick carpeting. But, for quick clean-ups on hard floors, it’s super fast and easy. I’m also impressed by the overall design: It’s intuitive, if you can say such a thing about a cordless vacuum. There are only two buttons to turn it on and off and to toggle between settings, and the whole thing feels sturdy. That’s true even for the attachments, which go on securely and come off easily.

The Bottom Line: You Definitely Need a Stick Vacuum
If you’re still dragging out the big vacuum for crumbs under the kitchen table or using a broom and dust pan to swirl dirt around in the entryway, you’re really going to appreciate the convenience of a stick vacuum. There are lots of models out there, but for the money, I’ve been completely satisfied with the Simplicity Vacuums S67 Cordless Stick Vacuum. Really, it ticks all the boxes for quick clean-ups. What more do you need?
