I am an admitted fragrance nerd.
There’s nothing I love more than trying out a new scent and seeing where it takes me.
The first time I tried 5Sens, it was the scent Twin Flame. It blew my MIND. Cucumber leaves, cardamom, osmanthus — ADDICTIVE.
It instantly became one of my top 5 favorite fragrances of all time with its, verdant, fresh scent profile. I’ll also admit, the way it made me FEEL was the main attractor. I felt this rush of just cool, crisp freedom.
5Sens focuses on what the perfumes evoke for emotions, and I just attached to this scent and wore it for years.
5Sens Twin Flame
Fast forward to talking with 5Sens (who are lovely people) and having them send me two fragrances I’ve never tried: In too Deep and Happy Tears.
These fragrances are CLEAN. Who wants toxins on their largest organ! Of course I was elated to try. Can lightning strike 3 times? Let’s dig in.
Pros
- Delicious fragrance.

Cons
- Only lasts a few hours.
Let’s first talk about Happy Tears. I typically don’t gravitate toward fruit-forward scents, but this has two secret weapons that pulled me in: orange blossom and jasmine. Along with peach and musk, this scent blends together to create something really nostalgic, almost like a creamsicle but elevated.
The initial spray was fruity and floral and I actually really enjoyed the peach note because it wasn’t overpowering. The drydown gave me much more insight into the fragrance, which sat on my skin for a few solid hours.
The main takeaway was … nostalgia. I understand why they call it Happy Tears, evoking positive memories with each spray.
I was reminded of my grandmother’s garden, which had a peach tree at its center. I also remembered the taste of creamsicles and the scent of my Strawberry Shortcake dolls.
It was a sweet, inviting scent that’s perfect for spring, and I absolutely would recommend it!
Happy Tears
The next fragrance was In Too Deep, which I was instantly drawn to because it’s a vanilla. But it’s not just vanilla-plain vanilla but Tahitian vanilla and sandalwood.
As someone who regularly wears Matiere’s Vanilla Powder and Le Labo’s Santal 33, and never thought to layer them, I was intrigued.
At first spray, I thought it was sweet. Typically I prefer dry vanillas. But this was so warm, so welcoming, that I ended up really enjoying it. I think it was the note of sparkling sugar that did that!
There’s also musk, which I love, and bergamot. As an Earl Grey drinker, I was SO excited about the bergamot, but it didn’t really come through for me.
All in all, the initial spray was certainly positive — it has a lot of the notes I’d come to crave, and it was put together in a really appealing way. The drydown was addictive! I found myself sniffing it for the next few hours and “In Too Deep” really does imply that quality of never getting enough of something.
In Too Deep
The only drawback was longevity, which I understand from a super-clean fragrance formulation. I didn’t smell the scent past a few hours, but I don’t mind re-applying when it’s an ethical and clean product. Spritz away!
