Velvet Eyewear Review: Will Nina and Bonnie Become Your New Summer Besties?

I have a love-hate relationship with sunglasses.

Have you ever lost a pair you spent a ton of money on, only to end up at a mall kiosk to spend $10 on a pair you use for years?

This is no way to live. Splurge or scrimp. Buy a nice but reasonable few pairs and keep an eye on them — easy. At least, that’s how I feel about Velvet sunglasses: gorgeous frames that won’t break the bank. Done. Now just don’t lose them.

These glasses are compliment-magnets. The “bug eye” silhouette is coming in hot this summer, and I think the Nina frames are a great way to dip your toes into the trend without going all-in. (Some bug eyes are very extreme.)

They’re on the larger side without being ostentatious, and the “squoval” shape is flattering on so many face-shapes. I love mine because they can be dressed up or down, and they’re comfortable to wear for hours, which can NOT be said about most sunnies, in my experience!

There is NOTHING more classic than a gold aviator frame. They’re timeless for a reason — they are the epitome of cool.

What’s extra nice about the Bonnies are that they’re polarized! If you didn’t know, polarized glasses are better for your eyes because they reduce eye strain, enhance color contrast, and give superior clarity compared to non-polarized versions.

Form and function baby! I think the Bonnie frames are perfect for a day at the beach: casual, chic, and keep the sun’s damage from your eyes. These glasses are comfortable, sturdy and stay put when many glasses wobble or falter. Wins all around!
