Sometimes, you just want to smooth your wrinkles without getting poked by a needle. A new generation of non-invasive treatments are out there, including facial patches like Frownies, but now that Blumbody has released clear, reusable wrinkle patches, I had to try them out.

Do Wrinkle Patches Actually Work?
Yes … and no. I’ve used Frownies a number of times, and they pack some real actual results: When you initially take them off, your face is smoother for hours. It’s literally just paper with a water adhesive, but it genuinely tightens the skin temporarily.
The general idea is that they keep the skin immobile and tight, which trains the muscles underneath. I always wake up looking younger after using Frownies. The cons? Uncomfortable and SMELLY — the only way to describe the scent is like bad breath. That’s why I was so excited to try these Blumbody patches, as they’re much thinner, they’re clear, they’re reusable, they don’t stink, and they come in much better shapes than Frownies triangles.
But Do They Work as Well?
This is a resounding NOPE. Now, I was warned by the actual company about the efficacy of the product upon receipt — these are preventative, they say. That’s great! I love prevention. But, I’m 45, and there’s already a lot of wrinkles that are pre-existing. Of course I’d like to accumulate less, but let’s be real — I use products to see results, period. Here’s how my Blumbody patch experience went.
My Experience
First off, I was positively thrilled by the physical feeling of the product. As previously mentioned, other products are smelly and uncomfortable, but these stickers just glide across my forehead in the most silky and feather-light way. When it comes to the forehead, nose-bridge, and crow’s feet patches on my upper face, I could barely tell they were on me. I was so excited at the comfort level.
The applications for the lower face were … less comfortable. I really need the corners of my mouth lifted and smoothed, so while I was excited to see they had stickers for that area, I was disappointed by how uncomfortable they felt when I went to sleep. These patches should be worn for a minimum of four hours at a time, so for me sleeping in them is really the only option.
The discomfort worsened when I put on the strip that goes below the nose and above the mouth, which is essentially a tape mustache. It was awful, so I took that one off. There was a triangular patch for below my lip, and weirdly, three more of the same.
I went to bed with them, tore the mouth ones off in the middle of the night due to discomfort, and went to my mirror. When I’m removing my Frownies, it’s so fun to see how my forehead looks tighter. I took this off and no such luck. I put the stickers back on the plastic backing, and decided to try again the next night.
These are reusable — allegedly — but I found on re-application they were barely sticky and fell off within minutes. So, they’re definitely not reusable, at least not for my oily skin. And yes, I washed before putting them on, so it’s not a user error!
I continued using the patches on my upper face for another two weeks or so and, well, I won’t be re-ordering. I can’t tell if they’re preventing anything, but they’re certainly not helping existing wrinkles and I just can’t justify sleeping in them and buying more if I’m seeing no results.

The Verdict
If you want visibly smoother wrinkles from using patches, go with Frownies, as they’re similarly priced. Be warned, they aren’t perfect, but they are effective. Blumbody’s may work for someone younger as a preventative tool if you have extra spending money, but I just don’t see the pros outweighing the cons here.
