I swear, I have the most goldilocks-like feet of anyone. I’m not sure why, but it’s a constant struggle to find comfortable walking shoes. I once spent two hours in a shoe store on vacation, desperately trying to find a sneaker that was comfortable. And trying to find comfortable sandals? Forget about it! Until I was gifted the Naot Meringue sandal, that is.

About a year ago, Naot’s PR agency sent me the EU size 36 (US size 5-5.5) to try, which ended up being way too large. Back it went, and I tried out the EU 35 (equivalent to a US 4-4.5). It was much better.

With the sizing figured out, I turned my attention to the looks. I wasn’t super impressed with the Velcro straps. To be honest, they called to mind orthopedic style shoes that one generally sees on elderly people. No judgement, I’m just feeling a little too young for genuine orthopedics (so far).
Meringue Sandals
However, I quickly got over it after wearing the sandals a couple of times and realizing the shoe was actually molding to my foot. I can now see and feel the indentations in the shoe, especially a year later. And I’ve gotten plenty of compliments on them, which doesn’t hurt either.
They’re So Versatile
Made of cork and latex, the shoes feel surprisingly light for how chunky they look. And I like that the 2.2-inch height adds a little lift without sacrificing comfort.
I chose the Stone Nubuck color with an off-white sole, which mixes and matches with almost any outfit I’ve thrown at it. These sandals go just as well with a skort as they do with shorts or even bootcut jeans. The only thing I don’t really wear them with is skinny jeans, which evidently aren’t on-trend anymore anyway.
I surprised myself last summer by reaching for these sandals nearly every time I left the house. I’ve worn them to all kinds of places, from baseball games to restaurants. I’ll wear them for running errands and for girls’ weekends. Even a year later, they’re honestly still my go-to sandal.
If you ask me, the $180 price tag is rather steep. However, if I had actually kept track of the number of times I’ve worn these, I’m betting I would have gotten my money’s worth.
As you can see from the photos, the shoes are looking rather worn. Of course, you can’t see the foot impressions when I’m wearing them, so that’s no big deal. But the off white soles are looking more “off” and much less white these days. It’s not surprising, but I don’t love how dingy they are. (Doesn’t stop me from wearing them though, apparently.)

Worth the Price
The Naot sandals ended up winning me over with their moldable footbed, quickly replacing flip-flops as my summer shoe. They’re still going strong a year later, though they’re showing some wear and tear. If you’re like me and struggle to find comfortable walking sandals, these just might win the top spot in your summer sandal lineup.
