As a woman in my forties, one beauty product I never leave home without applying is blush. As we age, we lose pigment in our lips and face, and I feel positively naked without a little rosiness applied to my cheeks. Until now, I’ve used either cream, liquid or powder on my face individually (namely Nars powder) most days.

According to the legendary makeup-artist-turned-entrepreneur, Ta states that the powder should be applied first with a fluffy brush, then followed by the cream. This changes everything. According to Ta, finishing with the cream gives the skin a dewy, fresh look that lasts far longer than using the product in the traditional manner.
My Experience
I decided to take this method, and this product, for a test drive. There are numerous shades to choose from, but with my neutral-to-cool skin tone, I went with She’s Giving. Now, upon first sight, this hue looks positively neon, but don’t worry, once it’s on your skin, it’s youthful and not nearly as vibrant.
The powder blush is highly, highly pigmented. Make absolutely certain you use it sparingly and tap your brush to avoid a comical, doll-like look. Once I’d applied a sparse amount on the apples of my cheeks up my cheekbone, I rubbed a finger into the cream and dabbed in the same area.
The Results
The look was indeed dewy and fresh. From all angles, I was pleased with how it looked and it was smooth and seamless to apply. From a durability perspective, the product lasted all day, giving my skin a youthful glow the entire time I was at work, all the way until dinner.

The Verdict
I will absolutely use this product regularly, and I have used this method with other blushes as well. On days where I would rather lean more peachy than pink, I use my aforementioned Nars blush powder with a dab of Jones Road miracle balm on top to produce the same dewy effect. I plan on getting more Patrick Ta products in the future because I’m thrilled with the formulation, rich pigmentation, and overall quality.
