I have four kids, so I do more laundry than I care to think about. They all play sports, love spaghetti with meat sauce, and are dirt-magnets, so my detergent has to really perform. I also care about the environment, so Coco Clean’s unique “green” formulation appealed to me. Will I be cuckoo for Coco Clean?
Laundry detergent powered by…COCONUTS?
You read that right. Coco Clean uses coconuts, enzymes, and mineral-based ingredients to get your clothes clean and fresh. They use boxes instead of bottles for an entirely plastic-free experience. They sent me both their Oxy Booster as well as the laundry powder. I tried them in two separate loads of laundry to assess their efficiency.

Coco Clean Detergent
Were my whites whiter?
For my first wash, I decided to do whites with the Oxy Booster, as I typically use Oxy Clean when I want my whites to be brighter. I had a variety of fabrics as well as a number of different reasons why I needed the whites washed – some were dingy, some were stained (darn you, makeup).

These whites needed some brightening! And boy, did they get it! I was so amazed by how clean and crisp these items looked. Some of these have been dingy for a while – for example, the strappy camisole was not recently yellowed. I used to just throw it on underneath other tops so nobody noticed that it was discolored. Now? It looks new. I am so happy with how much whiter every one of these items became. Also, check out the collar on the thin polo – makeup is GONE. Now, there’s no scent to this, and that’s a pro for some people and a con for others. I personally enjoy a little scent, however, with several kids with allergies, I typically stick to free-and-clear products.

Were my brights brighter?
Ok, so smell-a-vision doesn’t exist yet, but trust me when I say these clothes needed laundering. There were no real stains aside from some chocolate on a hand towel, but man, they were ripe. I was a little worried because Coco Clean has no scent to cover up any residual stink, so I put in the laundry and prayed.

This colorful bunch of clothing is stink-free, hallelujah! I had worried that there was SO LITTLE product (I’m used to putting in a big cap-full), and there was no scent (good for allergies, bad for the nose), that the clothes wouldn’t really feel clean. I was wrong. The Coco Clean detergent got rid of the chocolate stain on the hand towel, didn’t dim the bright colors of the clothing, and got rid of the smell.

Mission SERIOUSLY accomplished.
All and all, I would enthusiastically endorse both of these products. My whites are absolutely radiant, and my colorful laundry is free of odor and any stains. The price is GREAT—honestly, I did a double-take—and I love that it’s environmentally friendly on every level. I’m so excited to use this, feeling good about the impact it makes, and spreading the word about a really effective product.
