Ok, so I never really thought I had a hair growth problem, but I do want my hair shiny, so I was excited to try this product by Simi Beauty.
I had just gotten my hair colored to cover my few grays, and started using this on my scalp. What transpired was NOT what I expected! I ended up calling my colorist before two months had passed because I needed my grays covered. Again.
What was the problem? This product worked too well. Almost immediately, in fact. The color was STILL DRIPPING OUT OF MY HAIR in the shower when I began to notice the growth.
“How can my grays be back,” I wondered, scrutinizing my scalp. I could see a clear line of the dark dye, but yet the little sparkle of grey was there. It was new growth – faster than ever. And I could not believe how shiny it was!
On one had, I was annoyed. I can’t believe I’m going to have to get my hair dyed again. On the other hand, I was elated. Wow. This stuff REALLY WORKS!

Let me back up a bit and tell you about my experience applying Simi Beauty Hero Hair Oil. The stuff is THICK. Whenever I used other scalp oils, like the much-lauded JVN brand, they felt much more thin, and I kept adding more to make it feel like I was doing something.
Simi’s was really, really thick, which was clear when I applied it. The smell was earthy and relatively neutral, and I could tell from the viscosity and scent that there was castor oil in it, which I have heard is great for hair.
I kept looking and seeing all these tiny little hairs I couldn’t tame and was just shocked by the amount of new growth so quickly. See them all sticking up? That’s not static!
I applied it to my scalp every time I wasn’t in a rush to shower – maybe 2-3 times a week. I’d leave it on for 15 or so minutes, and shower it off. Sometimes I had to double-cleanse my hair to get it all off, but not every time. Basically, if you get a really good lather, it comes out.
Other days, I’d apply it to my ends. This was slightly more tricky because you need a VERY light touch, as the oil is very thick. It took a few tries to get the right amount to add shine but not make it look greasy.
As far as the price point goes, I think it’s very fair. Hair oil can really range, and because this is so effective, I think you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck at $50. I would absolutely pay it for the kind of growth and shine I get.
I have a friend who is postpartum and is struggling with having lost a lot of hair, and I immediately recommended this to her. She just started, and I’m excited to see her growth as well!

Anyway, I need to give this an enthusiastic recommendation…and so does my hair dresser, as she’s getting way more business out of me than she usually does!
